A series of modern postcards designed to capture Berlin’s rich and complex urban history. The designs draw inspiration from the city’s past as a divided and fractured space during the era of the Berlin Wall, while also celebrating its resilience and vibrant present.

Berlin was once a city marked by division. Its physical and cultural fabric torn apart by the Wall that separated East and West for nearly three decades. This period left scars on its urban landscape but also set the stage for a profound transformation. The fall of the Wall in 1989 became a symbol of unity and renewal, paving the way for Berlin to emerge as a dynamic center for art, design, and creativity.

The postcard designs reflect this journey. Typography is intentionally fragmented, symbolizing the city’s divided past, but is shown being reconstructed, representing Berlin’s ability to heal and thrive. Striped voids in the background evoke the starkness and emptiness of its historical division, while bold, colorful typefaces signify the energy and diversity of Berlin today.

The designs also incorporate visual references to the Fernsehturm (Berlin TV Tower), an iconic landmark that serves as a reminder of the city’s layered history and its enduring role as a cultural and architectural hub.
