Building on the expansive themes of GLO-ARCH I and II, GLO-ARCH III refines the project into an intimate and tactile format: a book. Where the first project employed large-scale physical installations and the second explored digital interactivity with a growing archive, this third iteration narrows the focus, inviting readers to engage with architecture and globalization on a deeply personal level.

The book is a collage of materials, thoughtfully selected to reflect the diversity of architectural textures, histories, and global contexts. The covers are crafted from laser-cut acrylic, evoking a modern, industrial aesthetic that contrasts beautifully with the organic and textured materials within. This choice nods to the fusion of tradition and innovation, a recurring theme in the exploration of globalization’s impact on architecture. From frosted elements that echo the columns of GLO-ARCH II to natural and industrial textures that bring the tactile world into the reader’s hands, the book’s physical design is as much a part of the narrative as its contents. This materiality mirrors the layered, interwoven nature of globalization, with each page offering a unique sensory and intellectual experience.

Each design decision reflects the project’s central question: how does globalization shape and redefine architectural practice, materials, and identity?

The contents are anchored by an insightful interview with Mazen Sakr, a Boston-based architect from AW ARCHITECTS. Sakr’s work, rooted in an understanding of regional and global contexts, provides a compelling lens through which to explore the tensions and harmonies of globalization in contemporary architectural practice. His perspectives shed light on critical themes such as sustainability, material sourcing, cultural preservation, and innovation, tying seamlessly into the overarching narrative of the GLO-ARCH series.

The book juxtaposes bold typography with subtle textures and layered visuals, creating a rich reading experience. It employs cutouts, fold-outs, and layered pages that challenge the conventions of traditional book design, much like GLO-ARCH II interactive archive challenged the norms of web interfaces.

The 3D animation announcing GLO-ARCH III features a transparent cube, a recurring motif across the GLO-ARCH series.

As the cube rotates, its faces dynamically reveal key textures inspired by the book. Frosted glass, laser-cut acrylic, and natural fibers, highlighting the materiality central to the project.

Bold typography, matching the book’s type selection, appears on the cube's surfaces as it turns, announcing the book's title, release date, and highlights.

The animation uses the book’s gradient-based color palette, blending soft transitions and vibrant accents that interact with light and texture, creating a dynamic and cohesive visual.

The smooth rotation of the cube, combined with its textural interplay and clean, impactful text, delivers an engaging announcement, connecting the digital promotion to the tactile and conceptual depth of GLO-ARCH III.
